Yep, you read that right - my name is Kat, and I am addicted to cloth diapers. So addicted in fact, every time I go on the Internet I find myself perusing my favorite cloth sites. I CAN'T STOP! I'm always looking for new cute diapers or better nighttime solutions or the newest most awesome wetbags. My husband just shakes his head and laughs. I'm so lucky he's taking this in stride with me.
Questions I've been asked about cloth -
So, why cloth diapers?
Isn't that a little crunchy?
What do you do with the poop?
Do you do laundry EVERY day?
My answers are -
Because they are economical, cute, and WAY better for the environment.
Yep, totally crunchy, but have you see how CUTE those diapers are?
I put the diaper in a wetbag until I'm ready to do laundry, then I wash the poopy diapers - easy peasy.
Nope, I wash diapers every two to three days, mostly because my washer is a pain in the butt.
I am very lucky that I have a husband willing to CD with me. I still do the bulk of the work - washing and reassembling, but that's mostly because I am very particular and we have a deal - if I want to CD I take care of washing the poopy diapers. This way he gets to spend time playing with the baby when he gets home from work, because I get home first.
Not everyone is as excited by CDing as I am, but we're slowing easing family into it. I think they'll be more apt to use the aplix pockets we have, since it's so much like putting on a disposable. Which do you prefer - snaps or aplix? Right now, I love my aplix diapers, since they give a better fit on my skinny little guy, but I'm sure he'll figure out how to get out of them soon enough, then it will be snaps all the way!
Do you have a favorite brand? I know I do, but I'll leave that for another post.

Brand New Day
I had intended for my first post to be yesterday, but as usual I am behind the curve. If you (and I) stick with this blog you'll get to know that about me. I am also easily distra - SQUIRREL! Okay, so I'm not that bad... Wait, what was I saying?
Let's see... I should start with an introduction: my name is Kat. I am an almost 29 year old wife and new mom. Last year I got hitched (May) and hatched (November) - yes, there is some overlap there, oops! I currently work in the finance industry, and like my job but it's not my dream. On the side, I make and sell jewelry with my best friend and mother (shameless plug - http://www.etsy.com/shop/ThreeCheepChicks). I am a self admitted geek and television addict with an undying love for Joss Whedon. No, seriously - you want to wax philosophical about the imagery in Dollhouse or discuss just how tight Mal's pants were, I'm your girl.
Why did I decide to start a blog? Mostly to record my thoughts on motherhood and track the progression of our lives as my son, Baby C, grows and changes. I am also blogging as an outlet for creativity, frustration, and a whole host of other emotions. I intend to be frank as I share my personal experiences and while I would never go out of my way to offend anyone, I do have kind of a twisted sense of humor (just ask me about my grandpa). Some people will not like what they read here, but hopefully you will find that we have more in common than not. I welcome discussion, but please be respectful, you never know who will read or hear your words.
In the upcoming weeks I plan to tackle the following topics: Baby C's birth, breastfeeding, cloth diapering, forgetfulness, depression, and hair dye. Here goes nothin...
